GETTING TO BORACAY
- By Plane --the fastest wat to Boracay is to fly from Manila to Caticlan Airport on Panay Island. There are also numerous flights to Kalibo, which is 1.5 hours by bus from Caticlan. Flight time from Manila to Caticlan ranges from 35-50 minutes; to Kalibo, it takes about 50 minutes.
BORACAY and how it got its name
- Several versions exist about the origin of the name "Boracay". According to one, it derives from the old local world borac , meaning cotton, in reference to the white, cotton-like color and texture of Boracay's Island.
- According to another version, the name came from the local words bora (bubbles) and bocay (white), because Ati ekders were amazed at the resemblance of the white sand to water bubbles.
